I was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV. I've seen it grow from a small town with questionable values into a sprawling corporate empire with even more questionable values. Unlike some natives, I've never left the town. Two years before the much hyped Centennial, I began painting various Las Vegas related images. Originally, I was exploring what I could achieve in the realm of a still life. This expanded to include the lost casinos of old. Iconic family landscapes of my childhood. I do not lament the physical loss of the old casinos, but the loss of creativity. The originality of The Thunderbird, The Sands, The Dunes, has been replaced with simple mimicry; a copy of Paris, a copy of Venice, a copy of New York. Why lose the classic names along with the buildings?
