Another happy accident that led to an obsessive output of painting. While visiting my friend's local used bookstore, Dead Poets Books, I noticed they had paintings of every major American author on their wall except Mark Twain. I thought this was a shame, bordering on the criminal. I went home and quickly painted a large portrait of Mark Twain in black and white on unprimed canvas which I donated to them. Enjoying this exercise, I began pulling books off of my shelf and painting my favorite authors in black and white on unprimed paper cut to the size of a record album cover (hence the strange name for this series of work). I eventually returned to Mark Twain, on the album cover scale, for myself. I hope to eventually display these works, along with passages from each author, in local libraries.
